Our product highlights
Sinker EDM
Sinker EDM is a precise and efficient manufacturing technology, specifically for hardened workpieces. High-quality electrode holder systems and electrode holders as well as suitable materials and clamping elements are crucial for stable positioning and optimal transmission of electrical conductivity.
Clamping equipment
Wire EDM
Wire EDM is a precise procedure for machining workpieces with complex shapes, where the correct clamping equipment ensures stability and precision. At Meusburger, you will find high-quality clamping systems that are optimally aligned with the requirements of wire EDM. These systems secure the workpiece reliably, reduce vibrations, and improve the machining quality, thus enabling more efficient processes and superior results.
Our product highlights
EDM graphite
Graphite has a porous structure due to its manufacturing. Depending on the type of graphite (e.g. Meusburger Q40, Q60, Q70), the pore size varies and significantly determines the attainable surface quality. Especially fine-grained types with low porosity enable very fine results – better than 16 VDI (0.63 Ra). When compared to copper, graphite shows notably lower thermal conductivity, but it also maintains dimensional stability even with temperature variations. As a result, the workpiece remains dimensionally stable even under thermal load.
EDM copper
Unlike graphite, copper is pore-free and uniformly crystallised. This homogeneous structure enables fine, smooth surfaces, making copper the first choice when it comes to stringent surface quality requirements. Thanks to its excellent electrical conductivity, it is one of the best materials for energy transfer in the EDM process. Its high thermal conductivity also ensures that generated heat is quickly dissipated, protecting tool and workpiece.
Tungsten copper (WCu)
Tungsten copper (WCu) is a compound material with a heterogeneous microstructure. It is typically created through the pressing and sintering of tungsten powder, whose pores are then filled with liquid copper (infiltration). Alternatively, manufacturing is possible by liquid phase sintering. The composition and properties of tungsten copper vary depending on the powder grain size as well as the press and sinter parameters. WCu combines the hardness and wear resistance of tungsten with the high electrical and thermal conductivity of copper. It is used as an electrode material when copper alloys reach their performance limits.
