Suited:
Hard chrome plating

Use

Cavity plates without dimension restrictions, with deep cavities and high core loads

Heat treatment

Already pre-hardened; usually no heat treatment required

Soft annealing:
720 °C 1 hour per 25 mm part thickness
Slow, controlled cooling inside the furnace
Maximum 245 HB

Hardening:
880 °C
Maintain curing temperature for 15 to 30 minutes
Cooling in hot bath/oil/compressed gas
Obtainable hardness: 50 HRC

Tempering:
Slow heating to tempering temperature immediately after hardening
Minimum time in furnace: 1 hour per 25 mm part thickness

Technical tip

  • Consistent hardness over the entire cross section
  • Improved weldability
  • Higher toughness than 1.2738
